Hello guys, I took orgo 2 last spring and I am going to retake it this spring. My question is, the orgo 2 class that I took was 4 units and no lab, but the one I am enrolled to take this spring as my retake is the lecture and lab included. It is also 4 units and when I check my enrollment information, apparently it's also 4 units for the lecture part and none shown for the lab, so I guess the lab is just there to be incorporated into the lecture. Will my grade in this course this upcoming semester be able to replace the one I took last spring? Thanks guys.

So it is still 4 credits for 4 credits? If so, it should replace it just fine.

Yes its still 4 credits. I was just worrying a little because the one I took already was lecture only and this new one I am about to take is the same number of credits but it also incorporates lab with the lecture. So not sure if its exactly the same.

So you have a Lab class, standing alone grade? Your 4 for 4 should replace, but the lab grade might not. You can make the argument and document to AACOMAS that your 4+1 should replaced by just the 4 since it does include the lab. I have read of other SDNers having success in that, but I would be cautious in that. But worse case is that you just replace 4 credits for 4, and the 1 lab credit grade remains the same. So you still should a good increase in your sgpa from 4 credits being replaced

Thank you for your replies. I have not taken orgo 2 lab anyways, this will be my first time taking it. What do you think?

I think you are fine. I intend to replace my 3 credit gen chem (no lab) with a 4 credit gen chem with lab.

I've done that also, no problems on that part.
Been hearing mixed views on this. So you replaced a 3 credit lecture with a 4 credit lecture + lab? Also, the original 1 credit lab still stands then?

Correct. My situation was this. I took a 3 credit physics and 1 credit physics lab at college A. Then at college B I took a 4 credit (lecture +1 lab) physics course. The 4 credits at college B only replaced the 3 credits at college A. The lab grade at college A remained.

Also, I have had this work: At college A I took a 3 credit lecture + 1 credit lab chemistry course. At college B I took a 5 credit chemistry course (combined lecture &lab). The 5 credit course at college B replaced the 3 credit lecture and the 1 credit lab from college A no problem.

Alright, hoping the first scenario will work for me as well. If it doesn't then, not end of the world but either way, did you get in contact with AACOMAS so that they verified your work in that manner or did you just do it as such when doing ur app, submitted it, and there was no problem?

I had to get into contact with Liaison for a whole list other reasons that have been well documented on here, BUT for this particular replacement it went through just fine.
