can someone please explain how grade replacement works for aacomas? If i retake a class do the previous credit hours show up without a grade? or does it replace the whole thing credit hours and all?

from AACOMAS instruction: "Only the last instance of a repeated course is included in the GPA calculation"

Repeat
Courses repeated for academic improvement or grade change must be listed each time taken. Courses repeated for additional credit, but not for a better grade, such as physical education or chorus, are not considered a repeat. Applicants should list the original class as a repeat i.e. “Repeat” and then list the final time it is taken as “Last Repeat.” All repeated courses should be coded in sequence. Please see the examples below:

Fall Semester 1999 ENGL 1113 English Composition I: Code as “Repeat 01”
Spring Semester 2001 ENGL 1113 English Composition I: Code as “Last Repeat 01”

Repeat Example 2
Fall Semester 2000 CHEM 3153 Organic Chemistry I: Code as “Repeat 02”
Fall Semester 2001 CHEM 3153 Organic Chemistry I: Code as “Last Repeat 02”

Many Years Ago I took a Calculus I course for 5 credit hours at a community collge and got a D.
Later I took Calculus I for 4 credit hours at a University and got an A.

Will that be replaced?

I believe that won't be replaced. Hours have to be same or more in the latest attempt.

Were they both semesters or quarters? The class replacing must be equal or more units to get replaced. I forgot what the conversion was semester to quarter but as long as it's equal or more then it will get replaced.

I believe that the OP can make a a reasonable argument in this case about being substantially the same course as 1 semester of a 2 semester introductory sequence. from AACOMAS instructions

"Please contact the AACOMAS office ([email protected]) if you have any questions about repeated courses."

I would send them a SHORT one or two paragraph professional, well-written statement. If you have or can find online the catalog description from the CC and the current showing that it they are essentially the same course, you'll have a shot.

Also remember that unlike AMCAS, AACOMAS doesn't use math in the science GPA

I wonder if they will combine courses to replace a grade. For example, I took Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 at a University and received A's in each; however they were each only 4 credit hours. So would 8 credit hours replace the single D from the 5 credit hour course I took at a community college immediately after high school?

I'll contact AACOMAS to inquire.
