Hi all! My school's on quarter system and I'm planning to apply as soon as the apps are up, which is a couple weeks before the grades of the spring quarter come out. I'm pretty okay with not having those grades included in my Aadsas GPA.

Just want to make sure, does that mean dentals school will consider me just based on what I send to them at the time, or I have to update them this those grade as soon as they come out? Thanks!

You can apply now, but you may want to update later

What classes are you waiting for grades on? It will depend on what classes they are.

If I update up them later, which is after I already submitted my apps, does do they still conder the grades? Or can I just hold on to the grades till the schools request it? Thanks!

you have to post the start/end date of the classes you are taking and future classes so they will know if you are trying to hide something by not posting your grades. Hope this helps.

How soon can we update, right after recieving change on transcript or is it November?

You can update as soon as your transcript is updated. First you update on AADSAS and then mail in official trancript to AADSAS. It may take a few weeks for AADSAS to update, but the schools can view the update you posted. If your grades aren't that good take your sweet time!

The academic update period is from Nov-Feb. When you submit your dental application, you list what classes you are currently taking and classes that you plan on taking. When schools first see your app, they'll basically make a decision on those grades. If you are borderline, they'll wait for the updated grades once you have them. If those grades will help you a lot this quarter you should wait, if it doesn't really matter, just submit early. Good luck!

Would we have to submit the transcript matching form with the transcript again if we want to update?

Or could we just ask our school to submit it again?

Yes, even with the academic update you are required to submit the transcript matching form along with the transcript. AADSAS will then verify again and your new GPA will be calculated. You'll know they updated when your GPA changes or when you see that they have received your transcript. There's a section on AADSAS where you can check to see when things are received, such as LoR/transcript.

You should wait until your grades post. If you don't they'll think you're trying to hide something. I had the same dilemma last year but my adviser told me to wait. I was still a very early applicant and interviewed in early October. No reason to rush.

They're not going to think you're hiding something. The earlier you apply, the better. Grades take long to verify, so if you turn it in early, it'll get done faster and you won't have to worry about it. You said, you're not worried about those grades being added, so just submit asap.

What if I send my transcript on June 1st but then wait till like July 15 before I send the last semester grades?

Send the transcript only once. Either choose June 1st or July 15. I suggest you to just apply early, but if you need those July 15 grades, just wait and once the grades are up, send the transcript+matching form to AADSAS.
