hi everyone,
this yr i want to apply the day AADSAS opens up their application online. i have most of my stuff ready..i.e. the online info from last yr, and i edited it of course, etc, etc.

however, 2 of my grades aren't up yet...and they may not be up till the end of May.

so my question is:
should i apply on May 17th, even though i don't have grades for 2 courses ( i know, unofficially, that one grade is an A-, but the other one is probably a B- or something 🙁 )?

or should i wait till i get my grades?

grr i hate my school, and how they're so slow with releasing our grades!! my last exam was MC for f*cks sake...how long does it take to put it through the scantron machine? 😱

thanks

I would go ahead and apply. Once your school releases your grades, send an updated transcript directly to the schools you apply to.

damn...
that sucks. everytime i send a transcript it costs me money 🙁 🙁 🙁 😡 🙁 🙁

oh well. ok i'm applying anyways. thanks 😎

My grades suck, so I already sent out the transcripts, it should get there in 5 - 7 business days, right after May 16th.

i was in the same situation as you last year. i called the schools and aadsas, and they said wait until you get the grades, then apply. or just write the grades in if you think you know them (email you teachers). laters

fruity_trident. how many of a loss are you going to have to wait till end of may. i suspect that your # will still be under 1000.. but i could be wrong.

since this is my 2nd time around, i'm not taking chances.
in any event, the 'unofficial grade' is not official...so now i only have my "sh!it" grade that i don't have....and i don't mind that the schools don't know that yet.lol

thanks for your help people. i will send my application in the day it comes out.

side note: i had a pretty horrible dream before i woke up... i dreamt that i got into nyu.
how horrible, to wake up and be like. nope, u're stupid, u didn't!!
😱

I think it is silly to send it off incomplete. You are at no disadvantage to wait. You will probably go out with the first mailing even if you wait. You can also ask your professors what they gave you in a meeting/email which could speed things up. You're going to be waiting weeks for all of your letters to come in and transcripts, etc so I say hold off. Everyone always flames me when I say this though.

yah everyone's in a rush to get that app off asap. First time I applied I applied in February, so the second time around I thought December was waaaayyy too early.

I always get a good laugh at those who want to be at the head of the line and apply through AADSAS the minute they open up. Is there a reward for the first ten applicants that I'm not aware of...like free tuition and booze for 4 years? Seriously, you are what you are by this point in the game. Your GPA and DAT will do more talking for you than applying as soon as humanly possible. If your GPA is not up to par you have nobody to blame but yourself and applying early doesn't exactly get the admissions committees to overlokk that. Best advice, apply when you are ready and confident in yourself as an applicant.

hey there,

i did apply when i was "ready and confident in [my]self as an applicant" last september, unfortunately, i didn't get accepted to the 16 schools I applied to.

i was told over and over again to apply early the next year...and that's exactly what I'm doing.

is there a problem with people applying SUPER early? how does this REALLY affect you?

I've heard this, that if you apply super-early and your stats aren't strong it works against you. Since normally, the people who apply early are strong applicants who are in for sure. Therefore you'll be compared to them, and it will make your already mediore stats look inferior. Some one told me to wait until like June-July, then apply when the applicant pool more-reflects the norm.

Apply as early as possible.

everybody says apply as early as possible. but i really doubt there is a difference if you apply may 20th versus june 1st or june 10th.

as long as you apply before july 1 and get your DAT in before august 1, i imagine you will be considered an early applicant, and applying 2 weeks earlier would not help out your application.

keep in mind that right now these schools are trying to finalize their classes for the class of 2009! 2010 can wait a few weeks.

actually aadsas begins processing on june 1 so personally i would suggest getting in before that. Whats magic about july 1 - that date is just as arbitrary as any other.
