This is a very anal questions.
So I was pretty disappointed with my grade last semester in Organic Chemistry I lecture. I got a B- in the 3 credit lecture. However, I got an A in the 2 credit lab. My school counts these as separate grades.
I know of other schools that combines Organic lab and lecture grades into one final mark. And even at my school, some of my other pre-req classes, like gen chem, combine lab and lecture into one final mark.
I know a B- isn't the end of the world, but I was just wondering if med schools have a way of distinguishing transcripts that feature Lab + Lecture combined grades, versus Lab and Lecture separate grades.
I am content with my overall GPA, but I am under the impression that med schools pay especially close attention to an Organic Chemistry Lecture grade....perhaps more than a Physics or Math grade? And for superficial reasons, I feel like a B-/A lecture/lab pair of marks looks worse than a B or B+ in a lecture/lab combined mark. I feel like my B-/A pair of marks screams "they aren't too bright, but at least they turns stuff in on time!"
