Hi all,

I have a questions regarding the graduate intern job with retail pharmacies (or any pharmacy in general). Once you accepted to be their graduate intern, is there any contract that you have to work for them after getting your license? And also, is it OK to be grad intern for more than 1 company? I know people who are student interns for multiple chains but what about grad intern? Thanks in advance!

First, when posting (and more importantly, when formulating your cover letter and emails to your prospective employers,) PLEASE check your grammar.
It was honestly quite painful to read your post. (I am a stickler when it comes to proper English in correspondence when looking at resumes.)

To answer your question, it is not too common to work as a graduate intern for 2 different chains at one time. They would likely frown upon that.
Upon graduation, you are free to work for whomever you choose, regardless of where you did a grad internship- provided you didn't sign up for a scholarship program (where they give you $$ to work as a grad intern as a bonus to help pay for school, and they expect you to work for them for every year you get the scholarship.) I'm not even sure if they are offering these scholarships anymore- at least, where I am (Northern CA).

Thanks for the response but I don't think you quite understand my question. When I say "grad intern", I mean one who HAS GRADUATED from school and is waiting to take the licensing exam (i.e. a PharmD without a license). So there will be no scholarship or "every year" or "pay for school" anymore. And I will not get into the grammar thing as it will be a silly discussion.

There are still offers for scholarship/bonus pay for grad interns (at least, there used to be.)
& if you're already done with paying for school- congrats, you're ahead of most grad interns already.

Proper grammar is not a silly thing. Believe me.

If you end up with 2 jobs as a grad intern this year, that is awesome- where are you, geographically speaking?

I'm in NV. And no, I don't believe proper grammar is silly. I believe worrying about grammar on an ONLINE forum is silly. Do you rant about your past job when you're applying for a new job? If you're prospective employer asks you about pharmacy-nursing collaborative, do you laugh and call nurses a bunch of ******s and incompetent? Do you LOL on your resume? Do you write "I like bonus" on your cover letter?

....

Do you do those on an online forum? I know I do!

Your grammar does suck. I am sorry but that is the truth. It is true that you are judged by the way you write/articulate your thoughts. Thus, if a person cannot write a complete sentence in proper grammar, it is such a turnoff. So yeah, go back to junior college and take some ESL classes, especially the writing courses.

You knew it would be a silly discussion and still stirred it up? Like you said, people can say whatever they want online so that means they can easily become jackass to you. Just don't take it personally and ignore them. Regarding the intern jobs, care to share one? It's getting hard to get a job here in Norther Cal, unless you are willing to commute. I think I may have to do that. Good luck!
