I'm currently a senior at a 4yr. Going to graduate with a low GPA of 2.5 (partially due to circumstances beyond my control). Before I came to this University I was so determined and passionate about becoming a dentist. And I don't want to give that up. I am 100% sure this is the career I REALLY want and know with the right plan I will be able to succeed. To keep it short, I am into my senior yr majoring in Psych and don't have any science prereqs. I started researching different paths to dental school and came across Post-baccalaureate premed programs. Most of which require 3.0 minimum GPA. I was wondering should I a declare double major for the purpose of staying undergrad, raising my GPA, and doing science prereqs then apply to a postbacc program? Or should I register as a non degree student to take dental preqs after I graduate? Also, what are the pros and cons of each? Thanks.

if you postpone graduating and get As in your science pre reqs, then you don't need a post bacc program.

that's what I'm worried about, I go to a very prestigious 4yr. to be safe, if i know that i would get B avgs is it best to double major get my GPA up then do a postbacc at a smaller university?

Not to state the obvious it is just my humble opinion that when it comes to admission, the As look better than Bs (obvious, duh, I know). Think about it. You never really know who is looking at your application. Its like a lottery when it comes to adcoms. Sure they look at the deeper aspects of your application, but when it comes down to first impressions, higher GPA and great dat scores from average schools will perhaps seem more appealing (superficially speaking that is).
