Quick question here. The college where I went for undergrad has a grad program for bioeng where students are allowed to take the medical classes offered at the school. I planned on enrolling in that program starting the upcoming Winter Quarter (they offer year round admission) in which then I can apply for med school for Fall 2013 admission (my first choice is my current college). I figure this way, I can take med classes to show I can handle the course load, get close with the medical professors/researchers, plenty of EC around the area, etc. I'm leaning towards this rather than SMP ... any opinions?

Your GPA? MCAT plan? Had any clinical exposure yet?

If the program can put you in touch with an alumnus who was in your shoes and is now in med school, then you have at least an anecdote to go on.

Best of luck to you.

GPA 3.3, MCAT planned for June and clinical exposure none but will be tons of opportunities at my undergrad college. I had words a few alumni and they said a few people in there had gone on to medical school. I'm weighing this out against a "real" SMP since real SMP may provide more doors to different medical schools where as the grad program I am applying to will only increase my chances for my alma mater.
