Hi everyone, I am applying this cycle, but wanted an advice on what I should do for the one year while I apply. More specifically, which one would look better on my EC when I turn in updates or have to re-apply next cycle?

My stats: cGPA: 3.79 sGPA: 3.93 MCAT: 33N (V:8 PS:14 BS:11)

option 1: Masters in Global Medicine (1 year program), while doing some volunteer and research (maybe 4 hours per week for each)

option 2: Work Full time as an EMT, which will give me alot of exposure to medicine. Currenly, my clinical experience is about 80hours volunteering at hospital, and this summer internship I had that allowed me to shadow phsycians alot.

The two options are one or the other for me! pretty much.. a masters or experience?? which one will be more helpful!?!? thanks for your inputs!!

Easy, the one you are more interested in.

If I had to make that decision, I would go with EMT.

You need more clinical experience, IMO, but you can gain this through volunteering during the masters or through the EMT training/job. The masters itself is not going to strengthen your application, so I wouldn't go that route unless learning the subject matter is of great interest to you, and it (ideally) comes with a tuition waiver and stipend. Also consider, it might be nice to have a break from academia for a year.

My friend and I graduated from college at the same time, under roughly the same conditions. We both had a bachelor's in biology, and both had pretty good grades. We were both rejected from medical schools. She opted to go for a master's, and I opted to go for a full-time clinical experience job. We both reapplied this year, and we both got accepted to more than one school.

So, which would look better? Well, which one would you grow more from?

Personally, I'd go with the EMT, but obviously, you know what I chose, so I'm slightly biased.
