Hi! I’m a current undergraduate senior attending a quarter-system school and applying to medical schools this cycle. Upon meeting with my graduation counselor, apparently I am on track to finishing my degree a quarter early (so I’d be done with classes by end of March vs mid-June). The problem is I didn’t know and so put on my primary/secondary applications that I was going to be a full-time student for the entire 24-25 academic year… I can’t stay for my last quarter after I finish all my degree requirements since I’ll lose most (if not all) of my financial aid, and have already finished my pre-med course reqs but am worried about how to update schools on my situation. Any advice?

Thanks in advance 🙂)

I'm not sure that you strictly need to update schools, but you could write an update letter detailing this change and explaining what you'll do with your new free time (NOTE: only write this if you plan to do something meaningful, i.e. not traveling or just sitting around)

Yeah, this is not a huge deal and you should not sweat about it. I don't even think it's worth an update.

Schools will not care! Not a problem!

Welcome to the forums.

You are not the first person in the world who graduated early on a quarter system.

As stated above, trust us... we don't really care as long as you aren't going to bomb out... 🙂 Save some money for yourself.
