I'm currently plan to go to school and work in the state that I live in (TX) however, I wonder if I move in the future to another state, would it still be possible to find employment as pharmacist there? Or is there a state-level examination/licensing that I need to fulfil? Has anyone experience this before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

Some have reciprocity. Each is different though - you might want to check with the states you are interested in. CA just changed its law and I'm not sure of the details - its available online. I think they now accept the NABPLEX & an extra examination which has more clinical, kinetics & law. But..check online to be sure! Oh, and you have to satisfy all CE requirements of each state you are licensed in unless you are inactive. In CA if you want to become active again, you have to satisfy the CE before activation.

My roommate is doing her rotations in CA next year and is going for dual WA/CA licensure. They are taking the Naplex in CA now, then you take the CA law exam. She thinks WA might accept passage of the CA law exam instead of making her sit for both, but she's not quite clear yet. I expect that would vary by state. What is certain is that CA will only accept the CA law exam.

From what I understand, most other states have full reciprocity, but you still have to apply for a license in your new state.

Banana -

Do you know how the reciprocity works between WA, OR & ID? I'd like to practice in one of these three states (leaning towards OR, but who knows.) I assumed that I would have to take the law exam for each state separately, but if I don't then it would be nice.

Thanks!
