Hey, I just have a quick question. I am currently in my junior year, I have completed all my pre-med requirements and already took the the MCAT. I will be applying to medical school starting in June for the 2013-2014 cycle. I have enough credits to graduate and I was wondering if it would look bad if I graduate in 3 years. I am planning on spending next year doing research and maybe getting a job as well. In addition, I would also like to spend time with family. I am aiming for the top ranked schools. Will they look down upon this? Thanks

No. Lots of people I know graduated early once all their reqs. were finished and have multiple acceptances. I would also do something clinical during your time off (i.e. volunteering).

Yeah, I finished in 3 years and I used it as a positive remark on my ability to handle large courseloads and time management.

As long as you are not lacking in other areas (less ECs, poor grades, not enough LOR, etc.) then it doesn't matter. Many people can't do all of that and still graduate in 3 years while maintaining a social life. But if you could, good for you.

Thanks for the replies. I have the grades, the MCAT score and I have decent EC's but I really would rather focus my time on research and possibly get more clinical experience because I think that I learn more from that than I would by taking classes. I am not doing it to boost my resume or anything because I would have already applied to schools by then. I just want to have more useful experiences than I think I would have in school
