So, my university decided to put 2 of the 4 classes I need to graduate on the same exact time table. This forces me to stay an extra semester to finish. What will dental school adcoms think about this situation? It's already infuriating that I have to delay everything by a semester but will this effect my application too (due to 2 class courseload)? Should I just take random classes to get to full time status (this would suck)? Luckily, I'm applying senior year so I have the following year to take the classes.

Does your school offer the class in a shortened summer term? At my school, you can walk with everyone at the normal time and take the last class(es) you need during May or June.

My issue isn't with graduating on-time or walking with the other students at graduation(something I don't plan on going to anyways.) It's more that I will be taking 2 courses at a time and the fact that it may look like I opted to take a smaller course load rather taking them at the sametime. I'd rather take the classes during the normal semester for the sake of financial aid / university grants that I receive.

Huh. I know that in the spring I only have two classes I actually need for graduation, but I'm adding a couple more based on the courses recommended by dental schools to reach full-time status. This is partially because my scholarships will only cover me as a full-time student. That might be something you want to consider, as well, since you say financial aid is a factor.

I was on the "9 semester plan" and have 8 interviews so far! So I say it has 0 impact, just keep the grades high. Also be prepared to answer why you did an extra semester.

Also. Yes. I recommend taking some electives to maintain a full load.

Congrats NDPitch!

Where are you interviewing at?

I am on the 13 semester plan and have 5 interviews....I would not worry about it. This is just a bio major and chem minor I didn't even double major.

I also want to add that I have NOT had one interviewer ask why it will be taking me 6 years to get a BS.
