Guys, is every college like mine? I'm so angry and confused. I am accepted and need to graduate next semester with BA in chemistry. My advisor says that I need 9 more credits, official transcript says 12 credits and an official degree audit letter that I received today says 5 credits. What do I do? Which person should I seek advisement? Anybody had such an issue?

When in doubt, your advisor is wrong. Don't you have like a majors requirement list you can check? That should be your end-all-be-all guide for graduation.

To me advisor is right, he says 9 credits and it matches to the list of requirements. But why it says different on official audit? And who do I go to to confirm it for sure?

To me it seems that official degree audit has to be a confirmation of all you need, otherwise I don't know who works there.

Your best bet of finding out for sure would probably be the head of the chemistry department. I ran into a similar problem near the end of undergrad when my school was restructuring the BS chemistry degree and that's what I had to do. I would say e-mail the department head/dean and explain the situation. I'm sure if they know you have been accepted to dental school and are concerned about your remaining undergrad courses they can figure something out if need be. Good luck 👍

I was talking to my advisor about transfer credits. I didn't think I had enough of the right history courses for the new school to finish the degree, but she just kept saying vaguely "we'll find a way to check off the requirements with your courses." So I didn't sign up for those courses at the new school.

I thought she was just being nice and going to sign off on it for me---giving me the inside track. Come to find out, it was just her last semester and it was about to not be her problem.

🙁

Could this be a clue?
