I just noticed something: all the podiatry schools except TUSPM and NYCPM require passing Part 1 and Part 2 boards as mandatory requirements to earn a DPM diploma.

At TUSPM and NYCPM, you do not need to pass Part 1 and Part 2 boards to earn a DPM diploma! Only satisfy passing the 4 year course curriculum! You can get still get a DPM diploma at Temple and NY by passing the school's curriculum, even if you fail either step 1 or step 2 board exams!

The other 7 podiatry schools, including the new one that opened in California, require passing steps1 and steps2 boards. Students at these schools of course work harder and worry more to earn their DPM diplomas. If you fail either board exams, even if you passed the school's course curriculum, you do not get your DPM diploma.

sounds like a good idea to me.

Then you can put your doctorate up on your wall, sit in a chair and stare at it all day, everyday because without passing boards, you can't get a medical license (even limited) or a residency!

check NYCPM again. While I was a student there was a loop hole that allowed people to graduated with out passing boards. I think that loop hole has been closed. It was certainly addressed when I was student council president and closed, unless something happened in the past 3 years and it was opened again.

Instead of reading the manual, call the school and ask. It does not specifically state a graduation requirement of passing boards, but I am pretty sure that you cannot continue into the clinical years without passing part 1. If you can't continue you cannot graduate.

DPMer, congratulations, you have failed at research. It took my less than three minutes to find that NYCPM requires passing of boards to graduate. Its under the title "Graduation Requirements"

I severely doubt you "just realized" this; did you read all 9 Student Handbooks?
