Grants, do they "validate" your reserarch?

I have the opportunity to apply for a grant, but given how busy my quarter has been, I don't know if I should? I started research late so I doubt I'll get a publication (maybe a poster).

Are you talking about a some small research grant? If your quarter is already busy don't waste your time. Do research and get a poster out of it - no one expects a publication out of an undergrad.

More info would be appreciated. What kind of grant are we talking about? What year are you?

Without knowing really anything about this grant or you in general I'll say if you don't think you have the time to carry out research to publication or even to where you could make a poster then I wouldn't waste the time to write the grant app (especially if it's one that you have a small chance of getting funded anyways).
