What do you all think about a light gray suit for an interview? I'm thinking about buying one. I've gone with the navy blazer / gray slack combo but I'm thinking it's not formal enough. Yes I'm THAT guy at the interview. However, I'd likely be the only one with gray suit also but I think that's kind of cool.

I wore a gray suit to all my interviews. No one cared, least of all the admissions officers and interviewers.

If you want to play it safe, classic interview is charcoal gray or navy suit and in pre-med land, black. It's up to you, but you don't want to be remembered for what your wearing - a light gray suit might do that.

b/c i'm a tool who reads men's magazines although i'm a female i would say charcoal gray as light grey is similar to light brown and seems to reminiscent of warm summer days and not so formal gatherings. but regardless its an improvement upon the blazer slacks combo. just dont wear a wacky colored shirt or scooby doo tie or anything.

The people that care most about suit color are the pre-meds, not the adcoms. One of interview days that I attended looked like a friggin rainbow of individual expression. All the colors kinda made me nauseous. A herd of dark gray/black/navy suits seems somehow more soothing to me, its one less thing to worry about. After all, blending in is not going to hurt you, but giving your interviewer a seizure from the reflections off of some god awefull tie/shirt combo might, just maybe, reflect negatively. But the bottom line is that it probably doesn't matter as long as you look professional. Personally I don't like real-light grey suits, but thats just my own thing. If you look good in it, I think you'll be fine (Although i'd urge you to consider a medium or charcoal grey instead 😉 ) Good luck! :luck:

as someone who went through this last year nd recieved compliments for not looking like every other "mortician" that walked through the door (bright shirt and tie with navy suit combo) there is definately something to be said for standing out inan interview... Now that i do tours and interviews i can say that the admissions office remembers your name and your sense of style if you don't look like every other premed that walks through there door... remember this process is about separating yourself from the rest of the pack... as for those of you that say go witht he traditional black just know that you aren't earning any points by looking like a funeral home director... i am not saying go crazy but honestly relax and have some fun with it...

PS there was a candidate whose bag got lost by the airline and he showed up in his sweatshirt... the whole office was laughing about it/him for weeks and he just got in...

I made sure to dress in something that wasn't too safe or predictable, but that is because it fits my..........forward and loud personality.

Charcoal gray pinstripe with a blue shirt and a purple/blue striped tie.

Although, Tufts were the only ones that noticed and said I looked good....and they were the first ones to reject me.

Go figure.

I say wear exactly what you need to feel comfortable (save a t-shirt and jeans). I mean if we are to get picky, black suits are pretty in your face, and usually saved for advertising sharks etc. I wouldn't wear one.

Gray is fine.

What about light-blue/gray? (Upclose is almost grayish, but it's really blue).

(I have't worn it, was just wondering if it's too casual, cos the others that I have are all black and this is closest to gray that I have. Perhaps I should just get a real gray color one)
