So i just took the GRE for the first time & did pretty badly 144 q 141 verbal. I only had a week to study on my vacation because i work full time & go to school full time. I'm aware most schools won't even look at your app unless your GRE scores are above the 50 percentile. My GPA is almost a 3.8 and my pre-req GPA is about the same. Does anyone have any advice on how to improve my scores or what strategy / books everyone else used? I have no choice but to take full course loads from here on out if i want to graduate before the program i want to attend starts & I'm pretty much stuck working full time any advice would be appreciated thanks!

I JUST (as in today) read some data from schools nearby (UK, Bellarmine) that the average new GRE score of their incoming class was around 302 total. I would suggest retaking it once and if you don't get a great score the second time either I really think your pre-requisite GPA will override your less than average GRE score. I took it twice to get the score I wanted.

Thanks for the reply. I do plan on taking it again in a couple months after I study more for it. I'm just going to have to find a way to set study time aside for it with my normal classes.

I took the test last year and I did pretty well but I did study for it a lot. I tried not to burn myself out though. Im sure you've heard this before but you should put together a long term schedule of studying everyday or about 5 days a week leading up to your test. Give yourself realistic goals, and use a lot of different study materials. All of it paid off though when I got into school and my overall GPA wasn't nearly as high as yours. I'm pretty sure my high GRE had a lot to do with it. Good luck!
