Hi All,

I talked with a few of the schools about my statistics (3.9 gpa, 17r mcat) and although I got interviews to these schools they were saying that they think it would be best for me to retake the exam to boost my chances of getting in. I did get interviews at Temple, Ohio, Scholl, DMU, and Barry, but I think they are interviewing me with the intent that I will be retaking the exam??
I was wondering how it would be viewed if I took the GREs instead of the MCAT. For many of the schools you need about a 500 on the GRE. Just looking for input on whether or not you think taking the GRE-biology instead of the MCAT would be ok or how it would affect my chances.

Thanks

I would take the MCAT. Schools are going to want to see you improve on your previous score, not avoid it by taking a different test. In my opinion, I will bet that DMU and Scholl will definitely want the MCAT. Just go to the interviews and they will tell you what they want from you. Some schools may say yes right away, others may say yes, but with the condition that you retake the MCAT.

im no admissions counselor but i would expect they would want you to take it again. just work hard, take it again, and see what happens. like the previous poster said, i dont think they wanna see you just give up on that test to take another one

It'd probably be best just to ask them to make sure.

I took the GRE after my MCATs expired after 3 years, plus they changed the format I think after I took them. SCPM didn't seem to mind and still accepted me.

But again, it's always best just to ask them directly, email is quick and easy.
