Hey Everyone,
I know some SMP's accept GRE scores. Has anyone here applied to an SMP with GRE scores - and what was your score to get into that particular program?
Thanks!

Some of the best SMPs won't let you do that. EVMS and Cinci won't let you. I think Georgetown used to but I don't know if they still do.

You should probably take the MCAT before doing just about any SMP though. You'll need it to be competitive at the better ones, and the spirit of an SMP is that you do it when you really believe that your academic record is the only thing holding you back.

We do accept the GRE at Regis, however it is generally for students who are looking to go into PA or other programs that require the GRE for their admissions. We prefer to see the scores for your intended goal program, so the MCAT for pre-meds as it helps us to predict your success, but we do make exceptions.

Honestly, though I see MCAT scores go up quite a bit for those who take it again after our MS degree, so it isn't always such a bad thing to take the GRE for our entry and then wait until after you've completed that coursework to go for the MCAT.

Edited to add that competitive GRE scores need to be above 50% for us, but, that can vary depending on the rest of the applicant's story. If the GPA is lower, we like to see a high GRE to indicate untapped academic potential. Q scores are more important than V.

Tulane, VCU, and CSU-East Bay accepted me with just the GRE.
2.83 uGPA.
169V, 159Q, 5.5W

It's misleading to use the term "SMP" for a program that isn't hosted at a med school and/or doesn't regularly publish its results in getting its grads into med school.

There are plenty of 1-2 year masters programs in biomedical sciences that don't pre-screen students for med school viability, and they're always happy to take your money, without doing anything to help your chances.

Best of luck to you.
