I know I am late, but I am applying for the Fall 2017 cohort. I just e-submitted today (11/5) but only to one school, as I have NOT taken the GRE yet (nor started studying). I plan on applying to a school with a January 16 deadline. For those who took the GRE, how long after the day that you took it did it appear on your PTCAS application? And for a Jan. 16th deadline, what would be a safe date to take it to ensure the school gets my GRE before the deadline?

**I understand how late I am so advice on having should done this earlier is needless, thank you 🙂**

I'd just take it ASAP that way if you get good enough scores you're set if not you know what to study and have time to retake

If you take the computer-administered GRE, the ETS website says it takes 10-15 days before your test score is posted and sent out to schools you designate. I believe it took about 5 days for schools to receive my scores after I sent them out, so I think you should take your GRE at least 3 weeks before the deadline, just to be safe!

Okay thank you! I'm going to take it Dec. 20th then which is 26 days. Hopefully that's enough time!

That should be good! Good luck studying for your GRE just a tip, make sure to tMe the free tests that the ETS website has since it'll give you a good feel for the computer program and how the test is administered!

After you finish your last GRE section, you'll have the option to enter into the computer up to four programs you'd like to receive your scores. Add the code for the program with the Jan 16th deadline then (the page has a school code lookup feature), and it should take ~15 days for ETS to process and send your score to that program (though I would budget in additional time just to be safe, especially with the Dec holidays). Taking it Dec 20th sounds plenty safe to make sure your scores arrive by Jan 16th!
