What would you say is a good GRE quant score for a competitive PT school? Right now I'm averaging about 610 on practice tests....and that's actually good considering I hate and suck at math! I'm really trying to use the last 3 weeks before the GRE to at least get to the 650 range.

To tell you the truth, I thought the GRE quant score was not nearly as important as the verbal. Do your research and see what the average scores are for the schools you're applying to. If these scores aren't posted and you can't contact anyone within the department about them, looks like you're just going to have to try your best and accept that. Isn't that what life is all about?

Actually from I've found it looks as if on average people have a higher math score than verbal. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graduate_Record_Examination)

I checked with the schools of interest and found a similar trend. Most people getting accepted have ~600 for math and a ~450 for verbal.

I wonder how much weight the GRE actually has in the application process. I think the goal is not to become an outlier and score below what is average.

I know all schools are different, but for the two I am looking at, Northwestern lists the admitted students average - 625Q, 475V, 4.5AW. UIC lists the weight put on each aspect of the application with GRE Verbal and Quantitative sections listed as 15% and
GRE Analytic Writing section as 5%.

Hey, I've been wondering the exact same question! I just took it a week ago. I did well on the quan (750) and ok on the verbal (540). The ptcas gives averages for almost all the scores and they range from averages of 600-650 quan and 460-550 verbal. Quanitative averages has always been higher in the ones ive looked at so i would guess that look at that a little more but thats just a guess. Just do as well as you can on both as you should be good.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm going to try really hard these last couple weeks to get my score up 20-40 more points. Those damn word problems mess me up everytime!
