Excuse me if this makes little sense, I'm really agitated right now because of the useless GRE website. 😡

How do you choose what institutions to send your GRE scores to? Where in the process do you do this? Do you do it when you pay, do you do it before the exam, do you do it after the exam? Where do you enter the school codes? Can you modify or add which institutions to send your scores to after?

As well, it seems there is a 20 dollar fee to add additional institutions, but I don't see WHERE it says "after the first 5, you must pay 20 dollars for each additional". So how many are free with the test, then which ones do you have to pay for?

And why don't they have a test taking site in Sacramento or Davis? (This is a rhetorical question, if you'll bear with me...) You'd think with so many people graduating in these areas they'd have a few sites there, but noooooo they put it way out in Fair Oaks.

Am I even on the right website? It doesn't give you any information except how to pay.

My answers are within the part I quoted:

During the test you will be able to search for the schools you want and select them.

Where in the process do you do this?
You do this after you take the test, but before you see your scores. You do it on the same computer you are taking your test at. Once you are done the test the computer lets you either select your schools, or choose to cancel your scores so that that whole test goes away and no schools can see it (I don't think you can either).

Where do you enter the school codes?
On the computer that you took your test on. It walks you through it.

Can you modify or add which institutions to send your scores to after?
I didn't do this but you would just call up ETS and give them some money and they would send it to the additional schools.

If I remember correctly, 5 or 6 were free with the test. You have to enter them when you take the test though, or I think they charge you, even if you only entered one or two during the test

Oh and yes you're on the right website 🙂

Thank you! I was going a little nuts there, me and websites with lots of hidden areas don't mix. I finally found it (after reading your info) and they only give you 4 with the exam, then you have to pay.

And I guess one last question--do they allow you to bring a piece of paper with the school codes on them?

They don't, but they have a little search function where you search for your school and select it. There is only one code for each school (as in, the code for the vet school is the same as the code for undergrad or med school or whatever) so it is pretty straightforward.
