Has anyone ever sent GRE scores to the wrong department code, or added in a department code when one was not necessary and had issues getting their GRE to the Vet program?

I applied to Georgia and sent my GRE scores on Sept 25th. Now I'm freaking out because on their main website they said to use their school code (5752) for the GRE and it didn't say NOT to use the (0617 Vet med code) code like other school websites specified.... so just to be sure ( because most other schools I have found need the dept code) I sent my GRE to 5752 with the dept 0617.

Now I'm looking at my tracking page, and they still haven't received my GRE, so I emailed them (attaching my score report from the ETS webpage in the email) and started looking around in their pdf files that they have posted as side links in the supplemental application area and LOW AND BEHOLD they say if you use the 0617 code, they will NOT RECEIVE YOUR SCORES. So I went to the ETS site as a last long shot and dished out another 25$ and paid to have a score sent asap to just the school code..... but they are probably not gonna get it by Oct 2nd deadline....

AM I SOL?

I am going to call tomorrow.... but I;m not sure if they make any exceptions....

You're fine, DT. The issue is not the 0617 qualifier, it's using the code for the graduate school at UGA instead of the 5752 Vet School code. As long as you sent to 5752, you are good to go, regardless of whether you used 0617 or not. I believe I used the 0617 code when I submitted, and they received my GRE scores. Just be patient; the scores took a while to update for me too!

I sent my scores to UGA on the 25th and they just now say that they received them (11:12pm) so if it hasn't posted tonight, it probably will tomorrow. 🙂

I did something similar when I took the GRE and made an error sending my scores to Ohio State. They called me up after the application deadline (as they were sorting files for review) because they didn't have my scores on file. I scanned them a quick .pdf of my paper scores so they had something to use and started the process to send them again via the ETS (at my cost).

It's not the end of the world and you can always call the admissions office to clarify. Worst case, they contact you if you've done everything else such as the VMCAS ( the reasoning being why pay the VMCAS fee if you weren't serious about applying there).

Side note: learn from my fail and look at programs GRE score submission requirements ahead of time if you can as it will save you money if you pick programs to send them to correctly on the day of the test.

They received them, and you were right the 0617 code wasn't a problem! Thanks so much! Good luck to everyone!
