GRE Test Dates

So...I take my GRE August 17th and I am about to have a mild heart attack. Does anyone know when it is too late to take the GRE and submit it with the VMCAS. I just want to make sure I have time to retake it if needed.😕

It depends on the schools you're applying to, so check with them. You'll have your verbal and quantitative scores instantly, and your writing score can take a month or so to get to you, as far as when you can enter it. But you'll select schools to send the results to after you take it, so they will have your score reports.

ETS takes about 2 weeks to process your score report, so you probably won't actually get your report in the mail for this test date until early September (or at best very late in August). You will definitely have time to retake the test if you are unhappy with your score, so long as you are willing to take the test in the very beginning of September.

And just for your own general info - Some schools don't require you to have the GRE finished by the VMCAS deadline and will let you submit scores as late as November. Check the specific requirements for your schools.

Hi there! Don't stress! I took my GRE August 15th last year, was not happy with my performance, and took it again September 19th. I called the schools I was applying to and explained the situation. I put down my quant/qual scores on the VMCAS application and they were fine to receive my writing score a bit after the VMCAS deadline. Just check with the schools you're applying to.

So, you will have all of your scores by the VMCAS deadline if you just take the test on August 17th - and my guess is you'll rock it so you won't even have to worry about another test date 😉 Best of luck!!

Phew, I just pushed back my GRE to August 23. Smack dab in the middle of finals, but I'll be better prepared then.

You're supposed to get the writing scores ~10-15 days post-test, so that should be enough time to take it again without having to panic (if retaking is necessary).
