Hi guys. I'm trying to apply to all of the California schools for this cycle, and possibly some Arizona schools. I took the GRE last year and scored 149V 154Q and 4.0AW. I thought these scores were okay to apply this year, but I recently looked at PTCAs and saw that most schools require at least 150 on the GRE. I don't think there's enough time to study for a retake of the GRE if I want to apply early. I want to get my application in by August 15th. What do you guys think? Or should I apply later?

Thanks for your help!

I don't think there is enough time to significantly study and improve your GRE score, however, I would say there is enough time to retake it (soon) and still have your application complete. If most schools require at least a 150, I think thats your only option (retake it, and try and get that 150). Your AW score looks decent, why do you think your V score didn't match up and do you think it could be an easy fix?

Possibly, I really didn't study too much for it my first time, and I don't think I had the best resources!

If you had trouble with vocab, Magoosh has some really good free online flashcards that I used.

I have no idea about how it looks if your score goes lower. I'm currently applying too, but I think its pretty rare that your score would go lower. When did you take it?

Around October I think. I'm leaning towards retaking it now. I'm gonna study and go ham for the vocab and everything.

Use Kaplan for vocab. Gotta get that verbal score up.
