hey, all

which is the best review book(s) for GRE and how long do I need to prepare?
where can I take some practice tests to gauge where I stand?
-Thx

I honestly didn't even know what was on the GRE until the night before I took it, and scored far higher than my program's minimum (program minimum was 1000 total). If you're not a native English speaker, you may want to study further for the verbal and writing sections, though, and unfortunately I don't have advice on study materials. Honestly, if you've had decent scores in math classes through the years and have a decent vocab, I don't think the GRE is something to fret about. I'd just check out the main GRE website for info on the content of the test and ask yourself if you think studying would be beneficial.

Good luck!

There are lots of ebooks and softwares available in the market for the prep. of GRE. At least you have to take 3 month times for your GRE preparation. Or you can also schedule the date after you are confident about it. Well, if you need any kind of GRE material information, do let me know, I will help you as much I can.

I'm looking to apply to MPH programs so that I can matriculate in the fall of 2008. When do you think is a good time to schedule the GRE? I was considering early- to mid-November - does this sound reasonable?

For programs with a January 1 or later deadline, that's reasonable, assuming you are confident that you will not want to re-take the exam (which I generally wouldn't recommend re-taking). If you have deadlines in December, though, that may be cutting it a bit close. You might want to leave yourself a bit more of a margin (so aim for late October - early November in that case) just to be sure all of your materials arrive before the deadline.

Thank you, namazu!!
