I was just wondering what everyone has noticed in a dentist's office that left them thinking...Wow! What a good idea! The things I have seen or heard of that I think were pretty good ideas are:

1. Dentist had a wall full of CDs. You walk in when you are called, pick your CD and during the procedure, you listen to it.

2. Bubbling fountain

3. Picture of Tahiti on the ceiling above the chair. I thought it was a bit ghetto at first because it wasn't even matted, but the patients all seemed to comment on how much they liked it. I guess I wasn't the one laying down, staring at it.

Has anyone else seen really good ideas in a dental office?

My dentist has a tv mounted above each chair and gives you headphones and remote to watch whatever you want during your cleaning/procedure.

My old orthodontist had a pac man arcade game which I thought was really cool when I was 11. He also had a vanpool to pick up/drop off kids from/to school for their appointments if their parents couldn't take them b/c they were at work.

Lots o' cool stuff. Different themed rooms. Can pick a DVD to watch of all the latest. TV's in the ceiling. Video games. Bird Sanctuary. Cookies (I thought that one was really funny). Hand massages and bottled water.... This is all stuff I've seen/heard about from family.

I was thinking of writing weekly riddles on the ceiling... to keep the patients busy!

about the TVs, where do you put them? on the top ceiling? on the side wall at the highest point? heads are always being tilted in different directions right?

the orthodontist i went to as a kid always had enough gameboys for the kiddies to play while they were waiting. whether i was waiting to be seated, waiting to get our bands redone, waiting to get checked off by the orthodontist, or waiting to get outta there (as our parents would talk to the dr.)... i loved going to the orthodontists office because of the gameboys. 😀

the office also gave out wooden tokens for each time they saw you and gave you an "excellent" on maintaining your oral hygiene. there was a whole treasure chest of toys that u could choose from when u collected enough tokens =).

the tvs, the headphones, the pac-man, the light covers that are pretty pictures...

but one thing that really stands out for me is when the office has a darn good office manager. I would be willing to pay through the nose for someone who can handle all the administrative stuff so that I wouldn't have to worry about it.

I remember when I was about 12 and had similair ideas with tv's and fish tanks everywere... too bad they beat me to it b4 I even started D-school... but watch out for me I got backup plans... LOL

Hooter-style dental office. 😀 😀 I mean of serving hot wings in waiting area.

Video games for the kids are a must.

Nothing makes you want to tell your friends about a place like when the hygienists enormous "tracks of land" rest against your forehead during the procedure 😀

 What if she's 60.

I don't know how it would work, but I think a wine bar in the reception area would relax tense patients...(maybe the receptionist should do the dispensation)

Sounds like a good way to get one of your patients a DUI.

Dentist: Fish Aquariums
Orthodontist: Wooden token for oral hygeine, funny faces on the overdhead lights, and pics of Pittsburgh everywhere
Craniofacial Surgeon: Comfy chairs

Salt water fish aquarium mounted in the walls. Sea horses and sharks!

the best thing to ever happen to my dentists office was ME.
