One thing that I have noticed is that this forum lacks is any sort of name recognition. It is very rarely that folks will create a posting that states, "this person is great to work for." It's always person XX. I can understand that people may want to keep their identity private, but why not give kudos to those who have inspired/helped us?

I'll start and feel free to add...

Brian Marx, Temple University
Matt Nock, Harvard Univesity

I'm not an applicant, but just as an FYI: I'm pretty sure that Brian Marx is no longer at Temple.

Yes, thanks, I knew that. I suppose I began the thread for two purposes 1) as you mention for potential applicants; and 2) just to apppreciate the folks who helped us along the way.

I have found that the field can be very small. The more people that I am aware of who are potentially great to work w/ the better (as a student or otherwise).

Alternatively, I Ihave also worked w/ people who are downright awful, however, I thought the latter thread would be more appropriate.

Is there any way to reply to posts as a "guest." I saw this done before, but I don't know how.

He isn't at a PhD program, but John McIntosh at Indiana University-South Bend is a wonderful advisor and person! Anita Kelly at Notre Dame was also an outstanding advisor to me as an undergrad.

my advisors were asking me questions....not the other way around, so suffice it to say, I did not have very good advisors. but my research advisor

Barbara Strupp, Nutrition and Psych,Cornell University

was awesome. she led me to be passionate about research in interventions. plus, i used to HATE mice, and now I love them. Rats too.

Rats too.

This is my first year without a pet rat and those little dudes are so easy to get to love, they're awesome.

Sorry to get off topic, carry on everyone!
