Greetings from the US. Since I think most of the folks here are not too familiar with how pediatricians are trained in Greece, why don't you share a bit about that with us. For example, after medical school, do you have to do a year as a general intern or can you start directly into pediatrics? How many years of pediatrics training is required there? Finally, I'm sure there are some who would like to know about the possibility of American medical students or residents doing a rotation in Greece. Do you need to speak Greek to be part of the team, or are there some hospitals or settings that one could participate with the team even if you don't speak Greek?

Regards

After finishing medical school you start directly into pediatrics(4 years of training) BUT you must wait more or less for 4 years till you start training, as you enter a certain "waiting" list,so i wouldn't really advise young american graduates to be trained here...this is happening cause many graduates love to follow this specialty...nowadays this happens with most specialties in greece...as for the language thing you better start learning greek...but this happens in most countries in europe...(italy,france,etc)...you cannot possibly communicate with patients without learning their mother language, can you?
As for the celebrations, yes, we still celebrate...don't we have a really good reason to do so? :luck:
