Anyone know where I can get a gross anatomy lab coat and dissection supplies online?

Thanks!
Laurie

Go to your local medical school or uniform supply shop and just pick up a bunch of scrubs. F*ck lab coats, trust me on this.. you want scrubs. The smell will permeate everything, so you want scrubs that you can take off and store in a distant corner of your apartment.

Dissection kit.. just type "anatomy kit" or "dissecting kit" in yahoo and happy shopping.

Lab coats are required, and I'd like to get my kit at a reputable online store that someone knows of.

TTSD, did you get any of this stuff online?

Nope. I got scrubs from the hospital (and comfy ones at that).. and the kit I bought from the book store. You only really need a basic one. Ask them if you can wear scrubs as opposed to lab coat.

yes, and although there is a whole thread devoted to this suggestion, don't forget NITRILE gloves.....they're god-sent :horns:

Scrubs are a definite no! We have to wear lab coats.

Thanks felipe5. I saw the nitrile glove thread and have ordered the best gloves my money can buy - nitrile with aloe. Also, is that "yes" indicating a place to buy supplies or aggreement with TTSD?

Anyone else, please let me know if you have any websites you can recommend. I know exactly what I need and would like to buy it online if possible.

Hmph, they probably don't want a bunch of MS1'ers running around the hospital then pretending to be doctors and offering free pelvic exams.

We have lockers next our anatomy lab and all lab wear is supposed to stay there. Aparently, we have pretty strict lab hygiene requirements.

Ah, then let me tell you.. do not accept the $5 to kiss the corpse.

What's with the fixation on buying the kit online? I always hate the shipping costs and a week or more wait for stuff to arrive. I wouldn't think they would be that expensive at the bookstore. A cheap set, expensive set...it really doesnt matter. Everyone's dissections end up looking like crap in the end anyway.

We don't have a bookstore, and I was trying to avoid having to trek to one of the other schools in town to get a kit. We have an exam tomorrow and then a week break. After the break, we start anatomy. I'm going out of town so I wanted to order the stuff in time for it to arrive in time for class. Since I couldn't find any sites, I ended up calling a medical supply store and ordering over the phone. Sometimes I forget that there was mail order before the internet.

I just typed in anatomy disection kit into google and up poped like a million online options?? Oh well.. at least you got your kit.

Why nitrile gloves?

something in the formalin seeps through the latex gloves so you end up with weird feeling hands.

oh, im sorry. seems kinda annoying not to have a bookstore. its always handy to be able to run in there to buy books and stuff. you should get a group of students together to convince your school you need one. 🙂
