This is for anyone who has been through a group interview. I was just wondering how that works. I know that there is a committee and there are also 3-5 students interviewed at the same time. My question is, are students asked the same questions?? or do they vary?? I noticed that alot of schools will ask why you picked DO and why you want to be a doctor?? Are these questions asked to all students?? or..........

My group interview was at TUCOM-MI:
As I remember, we had about 6 interviewees (us) and 5-6 interviewers (them). All faculty and one student. They each had an opportunity to ask a student a question. Each question was different and not everyone was asked a question by each interviewer: it was random. The questions were ones you could answer; they didn't put anyone on the hot seat.
Everyone has faults in their application, they will find them, and you must accept them.
Read the interview feedback page... you have a long time to worry, don't start yet.

There are a few great things about group interviews! First, you get a chance to "breathe" between questions, because everyone gets asked a single question in turn (at least, that's how it was at Touro-MI). If you see yourself going "off track" with an answer, you have a chance to get right back on track with the next interviewer... whereas in a 1 on 1 format, the interviewer would keep digging and pushing until you had completely buried yourself.
Second, by watching how the other students answer and how their answer is recieved you can not only figure out what things the interviewer is interested in or favors, but you can judge your performance in comparison to others by watching how interviewers react (this was my favorite part). I liked being able to come out of the interview with my opinions on how it went, and compare notes with the other interviewees.
Problematically for everyone else, i'm talkative has heck, and time is limited... You end up with less time when you figure out that they're going a 1-hour interview with 5 people, compared to other schools' 1hr 1-person interviews. 🙁

For those of you who have done group interviews with multiple interviewers, did you send thank-you notes afterward? Did you send a separate one to each person interviewing you? I'm just wondering whether I should send them out. With so many interviewers (4), I didn't feel like I made an exceptional connextion with any one in particular, so I don't want to send thank-you notes and sound insincere.

i didn't send a single thank you note to any of my interviewers.
lecom uses a carbon copy, literaly, sheet of questions. They vary but all can be found on the interview feed back. There are approximately 60 diff questions...I sent a thank you letter to some...interestingly the ones I thanked I was waitlisted, the others i was accepted...
other schools the questions varied...oh OUCOM also have some pretty standard questions too, check the web site...if you are above thier min stats you'll get interviewed...most interviewees are accepted...good luck
