Hey all, I have my first group interview coming up and I don't know what to expect. Does anyone have any advice or ideas? What should I be expecting? Specific questions? etc.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

make sure you bounce off of each others ideas. they put you in this setting to see how you work with others.

They're really not as bad as I expected! The hardest part was making sure I had multiple answers ready since I didn't want my answer to blend in with the other applicants. My interviewer rotated who she started with, allowing each of us to get ample time to think about our responses.

Questions were "What are your biggest strengths/weaknesses?", "Why PT?", "Give an example of a time where you had to go along with a decision that you did not necessarily agree with" and other standard interview questions. There's no way to really prep for these types of questions, just think about experiences during your observation hours that have lead you to pursue the PT profession.

Hope this helps!

100% agree!

Also try to have fun. I don't think the questions get too personal when you are in this setting. I had a group interview last year at UTHSC San Antonio & this far it has been my favorite. Good luck on your interview! 🙂

Answer the question and then let the next person talk. Don't talk for more than a minute. You don't have that much time and everyone else needs to talk. Just be yourself and be honest. And listen to the other applicants too. Ask them questions.

It might help to volunteer to speak first. It shows initiative on your part. Believe me, no one else will volunteer to go first.

So I was terrified to go to my group interview but I actually enjoyed that one more than my one on one interviews! It takes some of the pressure off of the situation because you are in there with people that are just as nervous as you are which is somewhat comforting. In my group interview, we were able to feed off of each other's answers so you can kind of bounce ideas off of one another. It seemed much more relaxed than one on one interviews. At the beginning of the interview, the professor asked us all the same questions, "tell me about yourself", "Why PT", and so on. Then she asked us different questions, such as tell me a time when you faced an ethical situation, or define professionalism. It seems like she asked a lot of "give me an example of a time when..." questions. Just use your observation experiences to help answer these!!

And everyone in my interview group got accepted!

Good luck!!!! :xf:
