I'm aware of the fact that there are GMED programs available for HS students, but are there any for college students?

You can find other schools that offer these programs in the MSAR. There are a fair number of them.

There are a few, but honestly don't rely on these programs. They're not that easy to get into and you go through a similar admissions process. I was about to do the one at VCU (close to my family) but decided against it, as not many people are able to get in (first get admitted into honors college, then get admitted into the guaranteed admission program, then get admitted into med school).

Why do you need a GMED when you have 3.92/40??

Hey everyone, I'm about to graduate from UVa this upcoming year (2011). I used to use CC a while ago, but forgot the pass of my account

So here are my stats:
GPA: 3.92
Science GPA: 4.0
MCAT: 40

My GPA is mostly likely staying at this level, next year I'm only taking 2 classes to fill my neuroscience major.

I am a double major in Neuroscience/Biology

EC's:
President of youth MSA
Bhangra Team
Running Club
Ran a 15 K for Artificial Kidney Research (4 years in a row)
President of youth ASA
VP of Neuroscience Society
VP of Cardiology Club
Tutor for first years
Dorm supervisor
VP of theologians club
Secretary of youth MUN


Research
I have assisted a professor in our Neuroscience team with his research about the effects of three different types of heart medication (for people with heart transplants) on the rate of emotional disorders (& dementia).

I have been on the research team for artifical kindey research at UVa for the past 3 years.

Here are the schools that I aiming for:
Harvard
JHU (First choice)
Mount Sinai
UVA
Duke
Washington State.



All advice highly appreciated!!!

Do they even have GMED programs for college students? I've only heard of like two or three, but they're so school specific. You have to have attended Podunk University from similar area to apply during your second year of college. I don't know...it seems easier to go traditional!

Agreed. The guaranteed programs are never at the caliber of institution you should be aiming for.

P.S., Penn should be on your list if you're looking to stay on the east coast and at a top 3 program.
