Butting in...

It depends where you want to live in Center City or West Philly. The best way to shop is to use the Philadelphia Weekly http://www.phillyweekly.com/ or the Penn Office of Off Campus Living listings also online on Penn's site. You can go with one of the mid-rise or high-rise buildings in the area, but most of them are more expensive (prohibitively so) than the other options. It's best to plan to come back here for a couple days to apartment hunt about a month or so before you plan to move in. You want to look at ANYTHING before you rent it, because you could get stuck with a real ****hole. You could always stay with me or use the office to find a current student to stay with while you hunt. As for buying, good luck, unless you have parent money or want to live in a shady area.

I'm considering getting a house and renting out 2 rooms also, I'll have more details if I settle on this in the near future.
