Guess what's on the list for best profession 2008...

Median salary seems a little low, but the metro areas they sampled may have a higher number of corporate ODs than non-metro.

Hard to beat a medical profession that people actually enjoy going to see (no offense dentistry; I enjoy going to my dentist 😉).

Locksmiths....$44K a year...no formal education. What a deal!

What about physician assistant?! Two years of school, almost full prescriptive rights and a salary thats almost comparable to ODs. I've heard that PAs that "specialize" can break the 6-figure mark. All of us with our 4+ year healthcare degrees have been had!

This is true, however, most PA schools require work experience.

For example, Pacific University's PA school requires 1000 hours of work experience in a health field. I haven't worked 1000 hours in my life so far, let alone in a health field setting.

A 40 hour work week for 6 months will get you 1000 hours. You've never had a job for more than 6 months?
