So how widespread are guest lectureships in M.D. programs? I know it's not likely to have hard data, but is it a common feature, or comparatively rare?

Thank you for your insightful contribution. My school has them, and I was just curious as to how widespread a practice it is - not for "bragging" rights or anything, just wondering. Anyone know?

What do you mean, that students get to guest lecture??
I thought it was common practice for schools to have professors from other places to teach. Mine does
