hello~
i have an abysmal gpa (2.6 ish) and am planning on taking the april mcat. i have been scoring in the low 30's on practice exams, but i'm worried that i won't get into an SMP without a higher mcat. i'll be taking courses at my state university, so i expect to have some decent grades on my record to pad the crap from my first undergrad experience.

should i gun for a higher score in august or take it in april?

i could really use some advice/opinions-- thanks!

I think before you do anything else talk to dr. Broitman or Dr. Franzblau at BU. Explain your situation to them. I talked to dr. Broitman a while ago he seemed to be very understanding of crappy GPA situation as long as you a more recent record of excelling. If you are getting 30's in the practice MCAT you are doing very well. Also the program at BU suggests that you take a few upper level courses before enrolling(Biochem, Genetics,etc...).

EDIT: The impression that I got from Dr. Broitman was that BU unlike other programs do not try to restrict their numbers like some postbacc to "protect" their acceptance rate to med schools.
