Don't spend more than 30-60 sec on any particular question. Keep a good pace and use a stop watch to try to move yourself along. If you can't get the answer in a few seconds, it needs to be a 1-2 and you'll see it again in a few days.
This is important to do. Whenever I banked a new card, I always read through the FA section that was associated with it just to see if there was extra info. On the rare occasion FA had something, usually pictures or diagrams, I would make a note of it for later.I agree 👍
I'm also an MS2 and have banked around 40% and see on average >300 question a day. I spend about 5-10 looking at a card and if I cannot recall the info, I read the answer and move on.
Also, I found reviewing sections in FA before GT helps.
Lastly, keep track of your progress. I have a google doc where I keep track of how many cards I've done compared to the total cards in the bank, as well as whether or not I've met my daily goal to keep on track. It's as simple as subtracting your target end date by a cell that has today's date (to calculate the number of remaining days). Then you divide the number of days left with the number of cards left unbanked. This number should remain below your specific target number per day (for you, roughly 5.5). This number will slowly creep up as the days go by where you don't bank at least 6 new cards, and it will slowly drop as you get ahead. Good luck.
Reworked is an understatement: i've modeled multivariate algorithms that take into account : your own prior performance, year in school, hair color, school, number of times card reviewed, total time spent on website for a given topic, metadata from all other Firecracker users, goal test date, etc.
The smarter the formula gets, the closer we can get EACH user to their own individualized "sweet spot" - the optimal time between studying something too soon or too late.
Beta is pretty straight forward though 🙂
I was trying to decide between using shoe size, hair color, and number of anti-GT/FC posts on SDN and ended up picking hair color. just a joke guys,
Should be fine to leave your page open as long as you like with unlimited bathroom breaks. Not hard to correct for outliers and wash it out with metadata.
Ok well it's good to know you were joking about hair color.
As for the time away from the computer, I wonder how that will affect those of us with mild to crazy ADD. If I just zone out for 10 seconds on an easy question I hope that won't make it come sooner---will it?
I've been thinking about all except hair color. Still just in the planning stages with a few lines of script. Gotta work on getting the basic functionality of FC up to snuff first.
Please make better hotkeys. Look at Anki program, they have a nice layout that is user friendly and more ergonomic than the one on GT. Space for answer, then 1, 2, 3, or 4 for next question. Quick and easy, unlike GT right now where pressing keys all across the keyboard slows down workflow. Or at least give us the option of being able to select from a set of premade hotkey setups, so people can use what they like.
On that note, does anyone have a link to the hotkey program that was mentioned a page earlier?

So on firecracker I have a message saying that the site will be down on Monday. Does anyone know if that means just firecracker and not GT? That past few site down incidences were my first and they were a big pain to try to study around.
Getting excited about the new Firecracker version to get pushed on Monday (site will be down for the day):
- No more problems with very large quizzes (some users reported experiencing errors whenever their quizzes got really large)
- Graphical and numerical insight into your performance, not only on all flagged topics, but also on your current day's recommended quiz.
- Revamped quiz summary that lets you quickly retake any questions you want to, and that tells you if you're score improved, stayed the same, or went down for questions you've seen before.
It's a great start (particularly with the quiz size issue), with more must-have stuff to come. Hopefully we can all move over to a "Firecrackers" thread soon!
I have been doing GT for about a month, and I was wondering how people go about studying the 20+ question pure memorization cards (e.g., Autoantibodies and Associated Disorders). So far, I have been reading the card and then using the quizzes to actually learn the information on the card. Have others been using a similar method or is there a better way of learning this material?

yes, meMy firecracker cards banked and questions are showing Zero after the upgrade. Anyone else get reset back to zero?
FC Team:
Get the migrations up.
Add a search bar.
Allow custom schedule on the quizes.
Call it a day.
This is getting ridiculous. This update you've been "working" on is pathetic.

Most valuable player? No clue what you're saying.Migrations from GT is MVP now that the new codebase is running.
Hey guys,
Can anyone who is far along / all the way done banking give us a list of the number of questions by subject? I'm trying to plan out when I want to try to finish certain subjects, but since each card is a different length w/ different numbers of questions, that can be difficult. I think a question number/subject would be really helpful. Thanks!
PS - A screenshot upload of the "Questions by subject" pull-down would be awesome and easy so you don't have to type them all up.
