Do you mean gunnerism in the undergrad institution, or in the medical school?

Well, I did vote for them, but they're really more like Number ***** University.

med school, sorry for the ambiguity

Hmm. Well seeing as this is the pre-allo forum, I'm sure you'll find all kinds of self-styled medschool "experts" to chime in. As for my own totally unsubstantiated random impression of medical schools. . . I'd say P&S has to be renamed Gunner University, but only because all of Columbia should be renamed Gunner U. I definitely wouldn't say Yale--they don't have grades, so what is there to gun for?

wow, hopkins is in the lead.

Yeah, no grades probably helps stop the gunner. But there's still small group work, where I'm sure the gunner tries to dominate.

so seriously is Columbia P & S extremely stressful?

Anyone who can get through the "tell us how great we are" essays in 3 weeks, and with a straight face has gotta have at least gunner potential.

wouldn't this be better off in allo?

Hmm, maybe I'll post the same poll & see if there's a difference. Could be interesting.

How could pre-meds possibly know?

Yale actually only has no grades for the first two years and the final two are ABCDF, so there is actually an extreme amount of competition in the clinical years. Stanford is the gold standard for no grades.

I was under the impression that people are voting on what university pre-med gunners seek acceptance to, not about if the med students are gunners. But, then again, those conditions are probably correlated...

Reimat,

Is that the skull from Monkey Island! Ha!
