Some background:
Canadian, RDH
College education: 2 Years of Dental Hygiene (GPA: 3.95/4.00) (From a small private college. Accredited dental hygiene program in Canada, but was not recognized by my current university.)

University education: (In process) Completed 60 credits (20 courses) over 3 fall/ winter semesters + 1 summer semester+ 2 online English Literature/Composition courses
cGPA: 3.79
sGPA: 3.85
Major: Chemistry
Prereq: 90% completed. (For some dental schools, I will still need microbio and biochem 2)
DAT: None yet.
Volunteer: 500+ hours from high school till now
Dental experience: work as a hygienist/ shadow dentist: 4000+ hours

I know very few schools are open to students with only 60 credits. (3 Canadian schools+ around 3 US schools that also are Canadian friendly)

Should I apply?
Pros of Applying this year: 1. If I get in, I'll be saving a year in my life. 2. Practice
Cons: 1. Less time to study for DAT. (Might not get a good DAT score, which will stay on record.)
2. $$$ of application

Guys, what do you think of the benefit and cost??
Thank you all!!

You never really know until you have a DAT score in your hands. Truth is you will never feel fully ready for the test. So when you seem to be scoring reasonable on practice tests, just go for it.
