GW Interview
Started by rlt
If you don't mind sharing, what are your stats? Still waiting to hear back from them. =/
yeah sure,
my cumulative gpa is about 3.3 and my pre req for them is like 3.1
GRE verbal was 154 and my quant was 157
i've done A LOT of research on public health and preventative care and have presented data at conferences.
I have about 280ish hours in observation.
I currently work with college students with physical disabilities for about 30 hours a week and also work with university housing for about 15-20 hours a week while still being a fulltime student
I have a bunch of other really strong extracurriculars that are probably what balanced out my lower GPA.

HopefulFuturePT, good news is it is only the first interview day. But I know the feeling, have seen people beginning to post about interviews from another school I applied to and still haven't heard anything from that school...It's a tough process but keep your head up!

I also haven't heard back, however, I just spoke to someone at the GW office and if your online application status says "REFERRED TO DPT ADMISSIONS...", which mine does (had no idea what this meant), it means you made the first round of cuts and your application is with the Adcoms for the second review. I was told its, "a good place to be." Don't get discouraged yet at all, it's way too early!
Thanks for sharing everyone and thank you nomattic for posting that! I have some hope now! That is what my application status is also!
I interviewed at GW in January for the 2012 cycle.
You'll meet on the sixth floor of the hospital. That's where the entire program is. The facilities are great. Everything looks new and is in good condition. You'll meet in the clinic and make idle chat with other applicants. Then you'll go to a the conference room, where the program director will introduce you to the program.
Afterwards you'll break into groups of three or four and have group interviews. They'll ask you about your experience in the settings you've worked/volunteered in.
You'll do a group exercise with your team. We had to determine which three items we'd have with us on a deserted island. That might or might not be the question.
Then you wait to be interviewed by an individual professor. I was the very last one that they interviewed.
Have fun. Be relaxed.

My status just changed to that today. Does anyone remember how long after they saw this they heard from GW?
When did you guys submit your apps, just so I have an idea of an expected timeline? I sent in my PTCAS apps on September 9th, but I kinda forgot to submit the supplemental app til yesterday...
My PTCAS application was mailed to schools Nov. 13th. I submitted the GW supplemental on the 18th. I know they did a preliminary check to make sure my application was complete and which prerequisites I had done because I emailed a question to her while she was reading my app., but she called it a preliminary review so I guess I till have some waiting to do.
How did the interview go today??
got an email today for an interview on jan 12
Well my app says DPT3 - REFERRED TO DEPT. FOR REVIEW now
Is that what all of y'alls were saying before you got your interview notice?

My status has said that for more than a month. 🙁
I submitted mine on PTCAS on 11/27...however I accidently pushed the money order button when paying instead of credit card so it took a couple of days to figure out and then I had to send a money order to PTCAS (because once you pick an option you cannot go back apparently- I could have kicked myself), so it didn't get sent out until 12/11 to GW (according to the ptcas website).... but I did send in the supplemental (correctly!) at the end of November. Also, I had sent out the whole PTCAS application to other schools starting Oct. 1st, so it had already gone through all the original processing. I received an invite for an interview at GW this weekend on 12/20. I'm very excited, it's one of my top choices! Not sure how many rounds of interviews they do...a lot of schools have set dates but will interview more until their class is filled. Not sure if this school is like that.
has anyone gotten accepted yet?

Hey! I called and they said the two remaining interview dates are February 2nd and February 8th.
anyone else hear back yet about an interview?
Nope I still have yet to hear anything. The interviews are fast approaching. I am hoping this is not a bad sign that I have yet to hear anything.
Just got invited to interview for Feb 8th, and I turned in my application fairly late in the cycle (like December 12th). Hope this helps any of you that are still waiting! Anyone know how many seats are still left?

got the notification that i was waitlisted today
Anyone accepted off the waitlist yet? Or know when there might be movement/people have to put down their deposit? I'm supposed to start classes in June, but I'm still hoping to pulled from the waitlist before I put a whole bunch of money down on another school. *fingers crossed*
Dancingirl444, I have received welcome e-mails from GW over the past few weeks, but so far nothing that says the class is 100% set in stone. The FB group for Class of 2016 just has 11 members (not including 2 current students) right now for what should be a class size of 30+. I am sure many people are still waiting to hear back from places they may have been wait-listed before they make their final decision. It might not hurt to contact GW and re-affirm your interest in the program and whether they expect more movement. I'm wishing you the best of luck 🙂
