For those of you who have heard back from GW after your interview, how long did it take. I remember when I was there that we were told 10 weeks, but I'm not sure if that meant it would take at least that long or if it'll take right around that long. It's been about 7 weeks not since I interviewed and I'm extremely eager to hear something from them (it's been my only interview so far 🙁 )

Also, anyone know how many interviewees they accept?

I dont know about the other stuff... but I do know that GW Interviews around 1220 applicants ... accepts 444 applicants, and enrolls 154

I'm in the same shoes...int 10-22...i remember them saying that it would take 10 weeks. i didn't believe it either since some of the gw accepts on sdn took like a month i figured i'd hear b4 xmas....well i guess 10 weeks it is.

I interviewed on 10/18, heard back on 12/22

I think it took me 7 weeks to get my rejection.

I interviewed at the end of December and they told us that it would be about 10 weeks before we heard anything. Darrell did say that they are going to interview 1000 people this year.

I take it 444 out of 1000 is a pretty good odds of acceptance? that seems pretty hight to me, close to half. i have an interivew in feb there, but that is kinda encouraging to see those numbers.. what do you all think? i was reading the stats, they have like the lowest acceptance rate due to sheer number of apps like 8800 so that is decent ot make the interview cut i was thinking. i was siked anyway as i have not had the most interivews.. um 3 total! woooo

dpy-

Was it good news or bad news? I interviewed 10/19, so I'm not really sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I haven't heard anything yet.

UCLAMAN-

Since you interviewed right after me I'd really like to know when you hear back from them. Post an update on this thread or PM me if you hear anything. Thanks.

it was good news...but I'm withdrawing my app there...hopefully one of the SDNers will get it. 🙂

good luck!

I interviewed 10/22 as well. Heard that I'd been placed on the alternate list 12/30. Hopefully it'll be good news, uclaman if you haven't heard yet.

I was surprised to be placed on the alternate list. The old man I interviewed with was a real ass. Liked the school, though. Wouldn't mind being there.

I interviewed 11/21 and heard back that I was placed on the alternate list 12/30. Both my interviews were great. My first, with a 3rd year lasted about an hour. It was very conversational ... "just getting to know you" kind of interview. The second was with a doctor who had been at GW for over 30 years. He was very nice and very proud of the new facilities. He asked questions like: "Why GW?", "Why medicine?" Very easy, very friendly. I was impressed with GW and it would be awesome to attend school in DC, but it is an expensive school in an expensive town.

How'd they notify you? snailmail, email, or did you call them?

And the alternate list is essenitally a waitlist?

Yikes....I'm worried now. A decision has probably been made on me as well then. But where is it?

Mine came by snailmail. Yes, the alternate list is a waitlist. Hang in there uclaman ... it might be a good sign you haven't been notified yet. They may have sent out letters to all those they positively knew they were rejecting or waitlisting. You may be in the "under consideration for acceptance pile." At least it appears you haven't been rejected or waitlisted.

Hey for those who interviewed ws it with a memeber of the admissions commitee? or a doctor not a memeber? i got the dean of admissions as my faculty interviewer. He's a nice guy, dont sweat it. Its closed file so just be prepared to talk about yourself in general, my interview with him was really laid back. And I got in, so i guess it went pretty well.

good luck 🙂

Mine was also by snail mail. I've sent a letter of intent (being careful with my language...'GW is one of my top choices') and am sending a LOR from my medical director department who is an alumni.

I'm thinking that not having heard is a better sign. I hope you got in, UCLAMAN. Let us know when you hear.😀

I was notified that I was waitlisted about a month after my interview last year. Hang in there waitlistees! I got in off the wait list in June, as well as several of my classmates. I sent in 2 letters of intent (one after the asked me if I wanted to be on the wait list, and a second one in May- right before they started looking at people on the waitlist). GW was my first choice, and I'm very happy here. Feel free to ask me any questions!

So it sounds like the people who heard back early (i.e. <10 weeks) were either accepted or put on the alternate list. Hmmm...now I'm just more confused. I'm assuming that my application was reviewed along with the others who interviewed around the same time I did (schnoodle, maniacheaven, etc), so I wonder why they didn't tell me which pile (accept/reject/waitlist) my application ended up in. 😕

If anyone still cares, I have some news about GW. I interviewed there the first week of December and today I visited the admissions office to ask when the next decisions will be made. The admissions staff told me that I will hear soon--within the next two weeks. So, I guess anyone that interviewed around then may be hearing soon!

Hi there
Just to let you guys know, I interviewed on 11/14 and got an acceptance letter postmarked 12/23. I also withdrew my app so hopefully one of you will get the spot! 🙂

I had a couple of questions about GW:

1. Do they reject people after interviews? It seems like they put people either on the alternate list or the accepted list.

2. GW said they would be contacting the people on the waitlist end of winter, does that mean end of February, early March?

(yes, I am on the dreadful alternate list too)

Blah!!!....got the waitlist/alternate treatment. Sorry to confuse everyone...I just realized I had been typing 10/22 as my int date. I actually interviewed 11/22. Ah well...7 more schools to go I suppose.

Sorry to hear that, UCLAMAN. It looks like I should be receiving something from them in the mail very soon too, then. If it went out in the same batch as yours, I may even get something tomorrow (yikes!).
Keep in mind: a waitlist isn't a rejection. And good luck with those other seven schools!
