Does anyone have information on George Washington University internal medicine program?
(In particular, how competitive it is to match there)

Thanks, I would appreciate any input.

I don't think it would be too difficult to match there. I am thinking of putting GW first as a prelim program because it would be great to live in DC for a year. What did you all think of the prelim year at GW?? Seems OK as ward call is Q5 at GW, Q6 at the VA; there are 2 unit months at Q3 or Q4. However the month of night float isn't to great. Great location too, right off the metro.

It's practically sitting on top of the metro.

It has not been very competitive in the past, but it should be more so with the new hospital... a nice facility with a nice location, but not as impressive as the hype, I thought.

They've had an unfortunately poor showing in fellowship placement (GI especially) which scares off most categoricals I've talked to. The thing that turned me off was that the PD (who seemed great..) actually mentioned that they had difficulty in the competitive fields for placement.. major mis-step!! Don't want to hear that on interview day!! Especially unnerving because even programs with shady fellowship records give you the "you'll get your fellowship from here" sales pitch when you interview.

I think the word is it's a great prelim place, a good primary care stop, but a little iffy with the categorical..

great PD, though. and nice metro!
