h 1 visa for prelim and anesthesia residency

hi guys,
i doing my anesthetic training in uk but very keen to move to us. i am planning to sit for usmle exams shortly. i wanted to know whether i would get a h1 visa for prelim year before i start anesthetic training if i am looking {around average} for scores of 90 's in two digit.

please answer
 
My understanding is that the H1B is sponsored by WHOMEVER IS CURRENTLY EMPLOYING YOU. Thus, your internship employer must sponsor you, then your residency employer will sponsor you after that.

When I did a rotation at another anaesthesia residency programme, I spoke with the residency coordinator (not the program director, but the secretary who coordinates the application process) who had printed materials ready for visa-requiring applicants (which I didn't need). From this experience, I would suggest contacting a few departments directly to find out.

Beyond that, http://www.uscis.gov/ is the official US immigration web site which has information about the application process if you have the time and patience to look through it. (I just did this last month for my fiance, who's also a UK citizen.)
