habituation vs extinction?

habituation example: if you hear a loud noise over and over again, at first it will startle you, but then you soon disregard it (you have gotten used to it)

extinction: when an animal loses an acquired behavior

if you have cliff's AP Bio i believe both are explained in the behavior chapter
hope this helps!

The monkey is first trained to push the button whenever he hears the bell. Eventually, with the absence of reincorer, he stops performing the learned action. This is an example of what?

-> Extinction.

Habituation involves a previously novel stimulus, which eventually fails to elicit a response

Extinction = trained response -> No responses anymore
Habituation = natural response -> No responses anymore
