hello all. this site is great.....i had a couple ?'s....

i plan on applying for pharmacy school this summer for fall 2007. i have not yet taken the PCAT nor have i registered for it. i live in california and plan on staying in cali, but don't want to limit mylsef so i thought i'd take the PCAT so that i could apply out of state. Now here's where i get confused, when can i take the PCAT so that i will still be able to apply for fall 2007? i saw a test date in june and october.....i'd rather take oct but would that be too late? any help would be great..

i also had one more question. ive been working at a pharmacy where i will be getting my letter of rec. but ive noticed some (or all?) schools also require a letter from a professor. How have you guys gone about getting this?

I'd recommend taking the PCAT in June just to get a feel for it and gauge your knowledge. If you don't like your score, you can always retake in October. You don't want to wait til Oct and deal w/ the possibility of a low score and be scrambling to study for the Jan PCAT.

About the LOR, just ask a professor whose class you did well in. It doesn't have to be a prof you're chummy with...just someone who knows that you put forth effort in their class. If you're like me, and you usually sit in the middle of class, don't play suck up, and bust A's and B's on tests...then finding a prof to give you a rec shouldn't be too hard. Teachers usually know who's trying and who's not.

I'd suggest you buy a Kaplan PCAT book (or your other preference study guide for PCAT) and start studying from now. Take the test on June, and be done with it ;p... Usually, pharmacy school will accept a 2-year-old PCAT score. So, if you're applying for fall 2007, they'll still accept the PCAT score from this June.
