I heard that for graduating from a Residency program , all your rotations need to be in New Innovations with documentations that you have passed them. This is how ACGME keeps track that you have completed them in the end. Is this true...?

Can the program go..... oooopss .... in the end and keep you back....?
Even though they have been promoting you every year.

Any one knows about this.

Thanks guys.

Yes, it's all absolutely true. Also, you only use 10% of your brain, the more you shave the thicker the hair will grow back, if you swallow gum it will stay in your stomach for 7 years, carrots improve your vision, being outside in the cold will make you catch a cold, cracking your knuckles will lead to arthritis, sitting too close to the TV will ruin your eyesight, toads cause warts, masturbation will cause hair to grow on your palms, chocolate causes acne, and if you keep making that face it will stay that way permanently.

Hi Wolfvgang22 ,

I appreciate your reply very much. So it's a " no" then.... he he he...!!

I am a little antsy since I am very close to committing to a job after residency with a set start date and do not want any issues.

Is there a reason you wouldn't graduate, such as sleeping with the program director's daughter? You might ask the PD about your concerns and explain what's going through your mind so he/she can tell you to stop worrying.

Allright , I will take it as a no then. Jeez. I thought these forums were meant to ask questions.

I think we're trying to make light of it because it's similar to unfounded concerns we've all had. If you're really worried about it messing up your job you should talk to your PD or a mentor in your program. You will unlikely be the first resident with similar concerns they have talked to.

Nobody except your PD looks at New Innovations, unless your program is audited by the ACGME, and even then probably only looking at aggregate data regarding duty hours.
I hated New Innovations. It's such an oxymoronic name and experience. Are there any programs that don't use it? The pepto pink and gray icon haunts my nightmares....

I just find it a ridiculous question. Of course your program can pretend you were never there (which has nothing to do with using new innovations). But why would they? Unless it's a big conspiracy you could probably prove you really were there. It just seems so weird to worry about, to me.

To be fair, how many times in the 8 years of training do you hear "if you didn't document it, it didn't happen!"?

New Innovations = Spurious regulations.
Meaningful Use = Meaningless rate limiting step that will increase accountability while hiding your clinical reasoning.

It would be fun to start a “lets level with people and tell the truth” campaign.

Programs that use "MedHub" or something equally heinous.

wtf is new innovations?

First time hearing about "New Innovations" and had a "hrmmmm?" moment...

Putting on my cynical pessimist hat, I'm wondering how much monies this is making for the smart capitalists - that is, people smart enough to funnel off some of that $200,000* of debt per student assumed by the generation we've been "entrusted to oversee medical education" for (wink!).

Their brochure sure makes me want to spend monies on a swank new monitoring program - something to buff my CV with, and the best part is that other people's monies get to pay for the implementation!

Web site features legit customer reviews, like "I give New Innovations an extremely happy score with all the programs." - Pat Meyers, Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista.

And their geograpically sexy map shows all the cool med schools and residencies are all about some New Innovations hawtness...

Be right back, ima check and see if they have any opportunities for investo... I mean, opportunities for hard-working, selfless educators of our bright young physicians who srsly don't care about making the monies or reaping the spoils of student indebtedness...
