can some one teach me how to do this i'm clueless!!

How many electrons are needed to balance this half reaction?

I2 + 6H2O --> 2IO-(subscript 3) + 12H+ +e?

Count charges-
1) On the left side, there is a total charge of zero
2) On the right side there is a total charge of 10+ (two negative from IO-(subscript 3) and 12 positive from H+)

So to get the right side equal to the left side, you need to add 10 electrons to the right.
