Congratulations! How did you hear of your acceptance? Was it through the mail or an e-mail?
 
@ Tom51--No I don't mind at all...undergrad GPA: 3.36, science GPA 2.99, science & math GPA 3.14, overall GPA 3.43 (took some courses after I received my BS in Biology), prereq GPA 3.55. My GRE scores were HORRIBLE smh but they were: 1st time (old GRE) 310 [v] 580 [q] 4.0 [aw], 2nd time (old GRE) 360 [v] 590 [q] 3.5 [aw], and 3rd time (new GRE) 143 [v] 147 [q] 3.5 [aw]....

OH! And at the time of application, I had over 200+ observation hrs in an outpatient clinic in the following settings: Neuro, orthopedic, pediatric, geriatric, and women's health....
 
When did you put your application in? And how long after you sent your supplemental/transcripts/scores, etc before you heard? I've called the graduate college a few times to make sure they had all my stuff and every time they've seemed.....disorganized.....
 
I'm glad I'm not the only one concerned. I submitted my Ptcas Sept 15 and mailed my supplemental app to the graduate college January 10. They sent me a letter saying that thy didn't receive any of recommendations or GRE scores even though they had all been sent months earlier! Has anyone had confirmation from the Physical Therapy Dept that their application is being reviewed?
 
If I can remember correctly I think I sent my application in around late Nov and I actually forgot to send in the supp app. So when I got accepted, I called Dr. S. Christopher Owens (who I think is in charge of the admissions process), and he told me to send in my supp app in ASAP. And I actually spoke with another admissions lady not too long ago and she said that she had all of my material. I personally think the best person to talk to about all of that is Dr. Owens. His phone # is:
757-727-5847. He even responds to email so email him as well if he doesn't pick up the phone or call you back...it's [email protected]. Hope that helps.
 
I received an acceptance notification by email Feb 2. and had to confirm my seat via email by Feb 9th. Then I was mailed a seat acceptance form and other documents that I needed to sign and had to have them mailed in by Feb 20th.The Graduate College is about 2 weeks behind, but if you aren't accepted into the program the DPT department will not forward your information to the Graduate College.

1000+ observation hours
3.2 Undergrad GPA
3.75 math science GPA
GRE: 150 verbal/ 157 quantitative/4.0 essay
Extracurricular: NCAA D1 athlete/ student admissions officer/ student researcher
BS Exercise Pre-PT from Indiana University

Congrats Ashalay Jay! As far as housing...I'm not sure lol. I do know that I'll be living off campus, but that's about it lol. I do plan on taking a trip out there late March to see what the area looks like and I've been doing a little online apt browsing. I'm hoping to get a better idea of what I want once I'm physically out there. What about you?
 
Yeah me too! I've been looking at houses for rent, they seem alot cheaper than the apartments and they're closer to campus too.

Yes I believe its one of the cheaper programs. No in state/ out of state tuition .

I was just notified via email today I was accepted! I now have a choice to make.
 
Has anybody else been able to find out anything about the rest of the class other than this forum? Oh yeah I'm Ciara, I'll be joining Hampton's PT class of 2015, I got accepted in Feb without finishing my application (suprisingly). I went to the University of Miami for undergrad. SN: who's looking for a room mate?
 
Is anyone else still waiting to hear from them? I called about a month ago to verify they had everything they needed and haven't heard a word since.

I believe if you haven't received a denial letter you have possibly been wait listed. As students claim or deny their seats in the program they are going down a list. Good luck!*

Well I declined my spot so that will open one for others. I couldn't pass up the in state tuition back home. Good luck to everyone!

Wow I should have researched private schools more. I found out today about the tuition here. $48 k for out of state is not bad. It's probably the cheapest tuition in the us for me being out of state. Definitely will apply here when the next cycle opens.

Hello all, I am a current student in the Hampton University Physical Therapy class of 2014. I am actually trying to get as many of the accepted students together as I can to begin a process that will aid in ushering you into the program smoothly. Basically mentors. We are not able to get the names and contact information of the students as of yet, but I want to get this started as I know that there are alot of questions that need to be answered.

As well, there are currently three of my classmates including myself who are looking for roommates. Two of us have apartments that need rooms filled and one is looking to find an apartment with someone else.

Hello all!

My name is Ashley and I'm currently the President for Class 2015 at Hampton. I have glanced over a few of your concerns and I had similar ones so i just want to clarify some things for you.

Our admissions board is overwhelmed with the number of applications so calling the office or sending Dr. Rainey or Dr. Owens emails asking about your status will be frustrating for you because you will not get the response a normal.applicant would want.

For class 2015, the earliest admit was February and the last person admitted as late as early August.
All I can advise you to do is hold tight and be patient.

I am in the THICK of my sporting semester all with presidential duties so be patient with me during the week but weekends I'll be rocking out responses.

I agree mccomasg09...in an email I got from Dr. Owens (when I requested the status of my application) he said that he will notify everyone of the graduate school's decision only after they have determined who they want to fill every seat...so I don't understand why they would let some people know before others, because he made it sound like he would let us all know at once (or within a relatively short period of time). at this point I just want to know their decision haha either yes or no.
 
I am stressing out too. My stats are not the greatest and this is one of my last schools. /:
 
I was accepted to the DPT program class of 2016! I got an email Thursday 3/21/13 notifying me of my acceptance. I replied saying that I was going to attend. I have sooo many questions about the school, the area, and the program; can anyone answers some of them?
This was one of the last programs that I heard back from and the only one that has accepted me so far. I don't think that I have the most impressive stats in terms of GPA but I have good test scores, 2000+ hours as an outpatient aide, and I earned a CSCS cert. a few months ago. I am excited to come down there and learn, any active students who want to give me some advice?! It would be much appreciated.
